Research Topic:
Understanding family gift-giving rituals through attachment theory

Research Details:
The aim of my research project is to understand gift-giving rituals within the family framework. It is hypothesised that many of this gifting rituals between parents-children relationships are not explained by the existing exchange theories. Therefore, the theory of attachment, taken from psychology, will be the base used to provide novelty insights about how gift-giving rituals are developed depending on the strength of bonds within families. This will help marketers, social groups and individuals to understand that some gift-giving relationships go beyond the exchange paradigms
