Working in the UK
The UK's new points based system has two categories that will be of particular interest to prospective students wishing to find work in the UK on completion of their studies.

Subject to immigration checks, international students will be eligible to apply for leave to remain in the UK on successful completion of their qualification under the Tier 1 (Post Study Work) category. This will enable international graduates to live and work in the UK for up to two years.

For highly skilled individuals, Tier 1 (General) will provide a route to working and settling in the UK. This category has replaced the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP).

Details and updates on the points based system can be found on the UK Border Agency website. Immigration is a complex issue so at Nottingham we arrange annual immigration talks from experts to help international students understand the latest regulations in relation to working in the UK.
