| Module Content: This course reviews and critiques development of policy in local and central government and the public services over time from rational planning and hierarchies to markets and then towards the current emphasis on networks and partnerships. It provides an analysis of key managerial issues facing today's public service managers, including the development of appropriate policies and strategies to meet multiple stakeholder needs, e-government policy participation and public-private partnerships. |
| Module Aims: An examination of concepts, values and themes relating to public management in the UK and internationally, with the aim of developing reflective practising managers. To facilitate an understanding of the policy process, how policy is made and changed and its relevant to management. |
| Module Assessment: Essay (4,000 words) (80%); Group Presentation in class (20%) |
