Module Content:
The course will apply advanced analytical techniques to financial markets in China and seek optimal strategies in theory and practices in solving issues in markets:
1. Introduction and Overview
2. Risk, Return & Portfolio Theory
3. CAPM and Efficient Market Hypothesis
4. Fixed Income Security in China I
5. Fixed Income Security in China II
6. Chinese Equity Markets; IPO Markets
7. Chinese Equity Markets; Secondary Markets
8. Foreign Exchange Market
9. Chinese Derivitives Markets: Options
10. Chinese Derivitives Markets: Futures and Forward Markets

Module Aims:
The course will focus on the theory and empirical evidence on the subject and will provide participants with a good general knowledge of how the various financial markets functions and act as a conduit between suppliers and users of capital, the regulatory environment in which they operate, their increasing interaction and what the future prospects and trends are likely to be. The course also stresses the institutional differences in terms of market structure, practices, and legal and regulatory frameworks in Chinese financial markets.

Examination (2 hours) (55%); Coursework (45%)
