The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 ranked us sixth among UK business schools for research power.
This high standard of research activity informs the content and design of all our PhD pathways, ensuring that we combine relevant academic theory with good practice.
Nottingham PhD students are among the most successful in the country, according to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).
The University of Nottingham is one of only 21 Doctoral Training Centres (DTC) in the UK accredited by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). This accreditation allows applicants from the UK and EU to apply for ESRC-DTC studentships. You will carry out research alongside students from all over the world who bring with them international experience and insight.
A research degree will provide the launch-pad for a successful career in academia, commerce, industry, the public sector or as an entrepreneur. Many graduates now work in top research universities, major multi-national corporations worldwide, or are running businesses.
