Co-requisites:	None.
Target Students:	Only available to Business School students, including Modern Languages with Business. Optional module for Computer science and Management (qualifying year). Not available to students who have taken Common Law A and/or B.
Delivery:	10 two-hour lectures and 7 one-hour tutorials.
Assessment:	One 2-hour problem and essay-based examination (100%)
Exam Format:	Answer Two questions from a choice of Three questions. All questions carry equal marks.
Summary of Content	UK legal framework Impact of EU legislation Law of contract - essential elements, performance and remedies. Business and the Law of Tort Employment Law Law in a local and global context
Aims	This module introduces participants to the study of law in a business context.

Learning Objectives & Outcomes	Knowledge and understanding This module develops a knowledge and understanding of: Business Law and the English Legal System. Intellectual skills This module develops: The cognitive skills of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, including the ability to identify assumptions, evaluate statements in terms of evidence, to detect false logic or reasoning, to identify implicit values, and to define terms adequately and to generalise appropriately. Professional practical skills This module develops: Qualitative skills including the ability to work with case studies. Transferable (key) skills This module develops: Effective oral and written communication skills in a range of traditional and electronic media.
