N2R4: BA (Hons) Management Studies with Spanish

Overview

BA (Hons) Management Studies with Spanish is offered by the Business School in collaboration with the School of Modern Languages, and is weighted two-thirds in business and one-third in Spanish. The degree is based on the same set of core modules as BA Management Studies, with the core accounting modules removed and four appropriate language modules added per year of study. Two of these modules are in written and spoken Spanish, whilst the others are typically in related subjects, such as Spanish media, literature, politics or culture.

Structure

First Year Modules

Semester One

Students who started their degree before 2010-11 will have taken Portugal and the Americas 1492-1865 instead of Spain and Portugal in the Twentieh Century.

Semester Two

+ 10 credits of approved Business modules

** Students who started their degree prior to 2010-11 will have taken Contemporary Economic Policy instead of Business Economics B1.

*** Students who started their degree prior to 2010-11 will have taken Spain in the Twentieth Century

* Quantitative Methods 1B may be taken as an alternative mathematics requirement. Note that either Quantitative Methods 1A or a Grade C at A level Mathematics (or equivalent) is a prerequisite for Quantitative Methods 1B.


Second Year Modules

Semester One

+ 10 credits of approved optional modules

*This module was formerly known as Organisation, Control and Resistance

Semester Two

+ 10 credits of approved optional modules


Students who started their degree prior to 2010-11 will have taken 20 credits of approved Hispanic modules instead of Metropolis and Empire : Spain, Portugal and the Americas.

Year Three spent abroad in Spain or in another Spanish speaking country at a partner academic institution or on an approved industrial placement.


Final Year Modules

Semester One

+ 10 credits of approved Hispanic modules
+ 10 credits of approved Business modules
+ 10 credits of approved optional modules

Semester Two

+ 10 credits of approved Hispanic modules
+ 10 credits of approved optional modules
