Placements and Company-based Projects

Placements

We are always keen to work with new organisations who are interested in employing our students or developing new and innovative partnerships

How will a placement student benefit my business?

  • Get the top talent - the University of Nottingham is consistently in the top 10 most targeted universities by employers (The Graduate Report 2021)
  • New faces, new ideas – our students can give you new ideas and perspectives within your workplace
  • Skills and support – our students work as real employees able to bring their knowledge and theory into practice

As an alumnus, it can also give you an opportunity to interact with the School, meet up with some of your former academic teachers and feel a renewed sense of involvement with our cutting edge research.

Short term work experience

Our short-term work experience scheme is aimed at providing a range of mutually beneficial opportunities for our partner organisations and our students.

By offering a tailored one day a week placement over a semester, or two week block of support during a holiday period, businesses can access skilled resources to work on a specific project or on a rolling day to day basis.

We also know that in addition to their degree, our graduates need practical work experience and real-world skills. So by offering a short work experience placement, you can benefit your company and contribute to the development of our students’ skillset.

Company-based projects

Every summer a number of full-time MBA/MSc students from Nottingham University Business School work with firms on consultancy-type projects in place of a formal dissertation − could your business benefit from their help?

Our students have business experience and can help companies in several project areas such as market analyses, process modelling, efficiency improvements, strategic analysis, marketing strategies, financial analysis and other key business research.

They also have access to all the resources of the university’s business databases including Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters (EIKON), S&P Global Market Intelligence, Mintel, Euromonitor and FT.com.
