• The Association for Clinical Biochemistry has a section for careers. We also received a copy of its publication ACB News which is available in the Centre 
• The Association for Clinical Cytogenetics (ACC) - contains sections on careers 
• The Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) - provides a members directory
• The BioIndustry Association  - includes a list of member companies within the bioscience sector
• The Biochemical Society website has information on careers for undergraduates and postgraduates including internships
• Biosciences@work has a list of employers which is available on request. The Society of General Microbiology offers some summer placements.
• The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) - includes information on funding
• The British Academy of Audiology  -  provides details of what an audiologist does and the training needed to become one. Some areas are password protected
• British Society for Immunology  - includes a section for careers and education.
• The British Society for Human Genetics  - has a job vacancy service and a brief description of how to train in this area
• Cancer Research UK London Research Institute - has details of a summer student scheme
• The Genetics Society - has a section on careers in genetics and also summer placements for undergraduates
• Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine  - includes a section on careers and training
• The Medical Research Council has a careers section covering careers in medical research. There are separate sections for fellowships and studentships  
• The NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP) will replace the Clinical Scientist Training Scheme. Provides training programmes in life sciences, physics and engineering and physiological sciences.

• The Pathological Society offers undergraduate bursaries to biomedical students for vacation placements in departments of pathology in universities, medical schools, NHS laboratories or research institutes in the United Kingdom or overseas
• The Wellcome Trust offers biomedical vacation scholarships for undergraduates
• The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute offers various career opportunities as well as undergraduate placements

• The Research Councils UK website provides details of the seven research councils   
• The Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry has a careers section. There is also a pharmaceutical recruiters where you can seach for internships and placements 
• The British Pharmacological Society has a careers section including job vacancies, courses and PhD opportunities
• CERN offer summer placements for physics, engineering and IT students
• The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, part of the Ministry of Defence, has a dedicated careers section which includes summer vacation placements for scientists
• The Energy Institute has a careers website called Energy Zone which contains information for graduates; yourenergyjobs.com is also very good 
• The Institute of Physics - contains information on their virtual careers fair. Copies of the booklets: Sponsorship and Work Placement for Physics Students and The Nuclear Industry: Opportunities for physicists are available in the Centre 
• The John Innes Centre and Sainsbury Laboratory offer summer internships across a variety of science disciplines
• The Met Office has a useful jobs and careers section 
• Royal Meteorological Society  - includes information on careers, employers, courses and research opportunities
• The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) - includes a careers section. On our student computers in the Centre, you can also watch a DVD from the RSC called Careers in Chemistry  
• Science and Technology Facilities Council - details of summer placements at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory

• The Association of Public Analysts  - includes a job board and a list of members' laboratories 
• The British Toxicology Society has information on a career in toxicology. You can download a copy of their booklet Careers in Toxicology
• The Forensic Science Society  - includes a section on careers

• The Association for Science Education promotes excellence in science teaching  
• The Institute of Animal Technology has a section on a career as an animal technician where you can download a copy of their booklet A Career as an Animal Technologist   
• Health Protection Agency - contains information about the division of radiation , work of the agency plus case studies
• NHS Careers  includes information on working as a clinical support worker or assistant

• Biopharma Skills Consortium (BSC) Placement resources- for students seeking work placements and graduate employment within the life sciences industry.
• National STEM Centre careers resources - careers resources database, information on professional development, and region-specific information.
• Naturejobs advertises vacancies and contains career articles, information and podcasts 
• New Scientist plus New Scientist Jobs and New Scientist Study websites. Their career guides are available online and also in the Careers Centre while stocks last. Their website also has a Student Zone which is aimed at students and recent graduates
• PMLive - includes a job search and career advice section in the pharmaceutical industry
• Science Careers - produced by the journal Science , includes a number of services including a science career forum. In the Centre, we have a copy of their career booklets for reference. The booklets cover job hunting, careers away from the bench, networking, green careers and young women in science.
• Scientists for Global Responsibility  - includes a series of ethical careers briefings and you can download the slides of a presentation on Finding an Ethical Career in Science and Technology.  They also have an ethical employers contact last.
• Society of Biology - download their careers booklet 'Next steps: options after a bioscience degree'
• UK Centre for Biosciences  has a section on careers using biosciences, further study and details of internships/placements
• Vega Science Trust has produced a series of science career videos that give a unique insight into the lives of young scientists and engineers
• The Year in Industry Scheme offers paid scientific work placements

In this sector it is often the case that specialist recruitment agencies handle vacancies for employers. During our work with students we have found the following sample to be useful in the past: Science Recruitment Group , SCI , Lab Support , Careers in Food and Drink and Food Industry Careers .
