School of Psychology Nottingham Athena Self Assessment Committee

The Athena SWAN Charter is a scheme which recognises excellence in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) employment in higher education.  The Charter was launched in June 2005.  Any university or research institution which is committed to the advancement and promotion of the careers of women in SET in higher education and research can apply for membership.

In 2005 (renewed in 2009) the University of Nottingham was successful in achieving a bronze award under the scheme. In 2008 the School of Psychology and five other SET schools in the faculty will submit an application for a silver award demonstrating how they have been working towards the charter principles.

The School of Psychology is pleased to announce the formation of a permanent committee within the School to further the aims and objectives of the Athena charter.

The objectives of the committee are to:

The committee meets several times per year and reviews progress towards the Athena charter aims. We also discuss any related issues that staff or student members of the school have raised.

We have compiled a range of statistics including gender representation among our staff and students, promotions and committees. These can be accessed by following the links below :

 If you have any issues you would like raised at our committee meeting then do get in touch with any of our committee members. Our activities and minutes will be tabled at the School staff meeting (2012 onwards)

 

 

The School of Psychology was delighted to receive a silver award for its commitment to supporting the careers of women in science at the School. Dr Moran and Professor Peter Mitchell received the award at a ceremony held in London in September 2008.
