Taught Postgraduate Courses

The courses offered by the School of Psychology are highly competitive and our department gained a maximum 24/24 in the most recent QAA (national teaching assessment) and a very high 5A in the latest RAE (national research assessment exercise).  These factors combine to make the learning environment in the School both diverse and stimulating.

We offer the following taught post-graduate degrees:

MSc in Brain Imaging

The School of Psychology offers an innovative Masters of Science based around Neuroimaging. The curriculum is highly interdisciplinary and covers key areas of cognitive neuroscience – from sensory and motor processes to executive functions – and methodological approaches such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), magnetoencephalography (MEG), electroencephalography (EEG) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). The programme combines lectures, practicals, and a hands-on research project.   For a more detailed outline of the course, visit School's MSc in Brain Imaging course page .

MSc Psychology Research Methods

This MSc course, offered by the School in collaboration with the Instiute of Work, Health and Organisation (IWHO), provides training in the basic and advanced research skills necessary to carry out effective research in the psychological sciences.  The course is approved by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as the first part of a 1+3 postgraduate training programme leading eventually to a PhD.
