Students on campus
The courses provided by the School of Psychology are highly competitive, the department having gained a maximum 24/24 in the most recent QAA (national teaching assessment) and a very high 5A in the latest RAE (national research assessment). The normal A-level offer is between AAB and ABB, meaning the quality of the students is very high.
These factors combined make the learning environment in the School both diverse and stimulating. The course teaches psychology as a scientific approach to understanding the mind and brain, and there is a strong emphasis on both practical and statistics teaching. There is, therefore, a high academic content to the degree, and as a result candidates with A-levels that also share a strong academic component are preferred.
Applicants with both science and humanities backgrounds are welcomed, though for the BSc in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience, at least one science A-level is preferred.
