Horizon
CGS will also soon be welcoming a number of new doctoral students as part of its involvement in the new Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute at the University of Nottingham which will provide funding for over 50 PhD studentships in Location-Aware Ubiquitous Computing for the Digital Economy. The venture represents an initial investment by Research Councils UK (RCUK), the University of Nottingham, and over 40 academic and industrial partners in both a Research Hub and Doctoral Training Centre within the RCUK Digital Economy Programme. The four year, fully funded doctoral positions will explore new uses of ubiquitous computing, create new location-aware technologies, and study their impact on people's lives. The studentships based as CGS will also include a three month salaried internship with a CGS partner, a list that currently include the BBC, BT, EADS Astrium, HP, IBM, Logica, Microsoft, Network Rail, Nokia, Ordnance Survey, PARC, Scott Wilson and Thales
Please contact Mike Jackson or Jeremy Morley if you are interested in studying for a PhD at CGS. Current funding opportunities will listed on the Centre's homepage when available.
