Housed within Nottingham Geospatial Building (pictured), the Centre for Geospatial Science (CGS) is a major cross-disciplinary research centre, established in April 2005 under the Directorship of Professor Mike Jackson. The Centre is global in scope and has experienced strong growth since its launch, building an international reputation for research excellence.

In 2009 CGS was designated an 'Oracle Spatial Centre of Excellence'.

Centre members undertake research into the following areas of geospatial science:

The Centre also has a vibrant postgraduate community and is part of the Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute. Please see our courses pages for details of taught courses and research degrees.

We are also always pleased to host visiting scientists and researchers, please contact Centre Director Professor Mike Jackson or Deputy Director Jeremy Morley if you think we could collaborate with you or your institution.
