Geo Health Informatics Research

Theme overview:

150 years ago, combining cholera death and water pump locations, Dr John Snow demonstrated that spatial studies could be of great value in understanding and predicting infectious disease outbreaks. Today’s technologies and advances in GIS, computing, modelling, statistics, sensors and geo-standards enable the application of powerful spatial analytical tools for the support of a broad range of health and epidemiological research challenges. At CGS we are currently focussing research on:

  • Health informatics and Open Source Geospatial software
  • Geospatial Health
  • Geohazards and Health
  • Volunteered Geographical Information (VGI)
  • Public Health/Epidemiology and the Environment
