Current Situation and service until April 2000

I am pleased to announce that the team have been given a further extension to the CHDGP contract, so we will be here to support you at least until 31st March 2000.

Due to the prolonged uncertainty and delay, both Karen and Ruth have taken up other posts.

Ruth started work on 1st November with Northampton Community Trust, working on their LIS
Karen started work on the Prodigy Project in Newcastle from 1st December.

I would like to thank them both for their work over the last 2 years - we wouldn’t be where we are without them.

We have filled the gap left by their departure by seconding two very capable people from our existing schemes – Chris Mackintosh from North West Bristol, and Rosie Medlicott from Walsall Health Authority. They are working mainly with the schemes that have recently joined us and with new schemes (we have a waiting list!).

Existing schemes will continue to be supported, so ring 0115 919 4495 as usual, and we will do what we can to help.

Future Plans

The NHS Information Authority has decided that the work of the CHDGP will continue and be made available to all PCGs (the name will change to PRIMIS [Primary Care Information Services] at the same time) The procurement process for a 3-year programme of work has just started. Contracts will be awarded in the middle of March 2000 for the 3 years starting on 1st April 2000. The Team at Nottingham will be bidding for this work, and hope to be successful.
