Members from the School of Chemistry have recently participated in the first BioCity Nottingham Chemistry Innovation day. The innovation day was as a result of a successful collaboration between Medilink (the Healthcare & Bioscience iNet) and both the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. The event included a number of speakers from the School of Chemistry who discussed how local SMEs and the University could work together and how schemes such as the Chemistry Innovation Laboratory can help these interactions.
The Chemistry Innovation Laboratory (CIL) is a three year project, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, which aims to support and strengthen links between the University of Nottingham and Chemistry Using SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) within the East Midlands. The project will facilitate access to specialist skills, knowledge, equipment and new technologies to help SMEs innovate and grow. For more information, visit the Chemistry Innovation Laboratory page.
The event attracted over 70 speakers, delegates and exhibitors and the trade exhibition attracted a good number of additional lab staff. There was an appetite amongst local SMEs for learning more about the high quality research being done in the School of Chemistry.
