Each summer in the School of Chemistry 3rd year postgraduates present their research accomplishments to students and staff in symposia that highlight the diverse and cutting-edge research being carried out in The School. We would like to congratulate all the postgraduates who took part in the symposia and, in particular, those students who were awarded prizes for their efforts.
Within the Organic and Biological section second year postgraduates An Jie, James Burnley, Naomi Barton and Toni Moragas were award the Frederick S. Kipping prize for their posters. The Leslie Crombie prizes (awarded to 3rd years for the best research talks) were awarded to Christopher Nawrat, Christian Spiteri, Elizabeth Morris, Maliha Uroos and Camille Gignoux.
In the Inorganic and Materials section the Turner Prize (awarded for the best PhD thesis of the previous year) was awarded to Graham Rance. Third year postgraduate Soon Yee Liew was awarded the Barker prize for the best research talk. Poster prizes were awarded to second years Andrew Davies, David King and Mike Waters.
In the Physical and Theoretical section third year postgraduates David Bennett and Stephen Hessey were awarded the Dan Eley prize for the best research presentations and Olga Ershova was awarded the prize for the best poster.
