The School of Contemporary Chinese Studies was founded in January 2007 with the appointment of Professor Shujie Yao as Head of School.
The University marked its commitment to Chinese Studies in 2000 with the opening of the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Studies; this commitment deepened with the opening of the University's Ningbo campus in China and has continued with a range of investments including the exciting new development of the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies.
The new School of houses the highly regarded China Policy Institute as well as the Nottingham Confucius Institute which was formed in September 2007 and promotes the teaching of Chinese language and culture in the UK.
