SCCS Head of School cited by Guardian in report on Burma's recent political changes

25/11/2011

Professor Shujie Yao, Head of the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies, was quoted by the Guardian on 17 November in a report about Burma’s regime showing signs of political reform (“Burma's generals inch towards reform”).

The report says “part of the leadership's motivation for change could be economic” and cites Prof Yao as saying that, in the face of China, "many countries are fearing for their sovereignty, even Japan".
