Biography

Dr Jing Zhang joined the School in 2009 following a one-year research stint at Oxford University's Department of International Development. She previously held research and teaching assistantships at the University of Birmingham, where she was awarded her PhD and MSc in Economics. She had obtained a BA (Hons) Business Management and Economics from Edinburgh Napier University and a Bachelor of Economics from Shandong University of Finance, China.

An environmental economist, Dr Zhang researches on the effects of globalization and economic development on the environment, foreign governance and governance. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Development Studies and the Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy. Her current research interests include the implications of the financial crisis for China amongst others. Dr Zhang recently won the British Academy's small research grant on the environmental goverance in a polluted city in China.
