Masters Courses
The online postgraduate application system enables you to fill out a standard application form online and submit this to the University immediately. You can also attach supporting documents, including certificates and a transcript of your previous studies.
PhD
To apply, please complete an online postgraduate application form. You should also submit your research proposal, two academic references, academic transcripts and English language test result if English is not your first language and you have not studied at a UK, USA or Australian University.
Your acceptance into the PhD programme will be based on both academic ability and the availability of suitable supervisors. The quality of your research proposal is extremely important and is a crucial part of the application process.
Entry requirements
Masters Courses
Applicants are normally expected to have at least a 2:1 Honours degree or equivalent from an accredited university in an appropriate discipline for entry onto the MSc. Candidates with a high 2:2 or equivalent will be considered on a discretionary basis.
Applicants whose first language is not English should achieve a score of at least:

IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in each element)

TOEFL iBT 87 (no less than 21 in any element)
PhD
Applicants for PhD study will normally hold a Masters qualification, however other candidates may be considered at the discretion of the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies.
If your first language is not English, the University requires evidence of the following:

IELTS (Academic version) score of at least 7.0 with no less than 6.0 in any one element; or

TOEFL (IBT) 100 with no less than 21 in listening, 22 in reading, 23 in speaking and 21 in writing.
