We’re a dedicated and dynamic group of staff and students, and you’ll have the opportunity to develop an understanding of all aspects of contemporary Chinese society through research-led, interdisciplinary teaching
Students are taught by a range of experts who undertake advanced research into Chinese business, language, economy, geography, history, politics, law and culture.
Undergraduate Programmes: we offer structured yet flexible three- and four-year courses allowing you to tailor your programme of study to your own interests and career aspirations. These courses include the single honours BA Contemporary Chinese Studies programme, 4 year degrees including MSci Global Issues and Contemporary Chinese Studies and MSci Business and Economy of Contemporary China, or a selection of 12 different combined courses
Undergraduate students have the opportunity to spend their whole second year abroad at Nottingham’s China campus in Ningbo, China where they gain first-hand experience of living and studying in China. Native speakers of Mandarin Chinese remain in the UK throughout their studies.
Postgraduate Programmes: we offer a range of taught postgraduate degrees including the MSc Management in Contemporary China and Emerging Markets and MA Contemporary Chinese Studies; we also contribute to the MA Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting degree. A broad range of PhD research opportunities are available for suitably qualified candidates.
Students choosing the MSc Management in Contemporary China programme and Emerging Markets have the opportunity to either complete an internship in China or the UK, or to write a dissertation based on a subject agreed with their supervisor.
