Alex Walker's current research is into the risk of venous thromboembolism in cancer, using large linked medical databases. This includes the General Practice Research Database (GPRD), Hospital Episode Statistics, and Cancer Registry data. His previous work has included use of the GPRD to investigate novel anticancer uses for commonly used drugs.
