Current Research

As an occupational health psychologist, Amanda's current research interests, listed above, involve working with medical practitioners, and with occupational health & safety experts, towards the prevention and management of occupational ill-health, particularly mental-ill health. Her past research has focused largely on the prevention and management of work-related stress. She and her team have undertaken many projects over the past 15 years with managers in pubic and private sector organisations, exploring a risk management approach (psychosocial risk management). This paved the way for the current British Government approach to advising organisations on how to avoid the largest cause of work-related ill-health and sickness absence in developed countries today. It has influenced the development of related national and organisational level policies across the world.
