Research Fellow - GAPP Project, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
Dr John Taylor acquired his BSc in Psychology (with First Class Honours) from the University of Hertfordshire before passing his MSc in Health Psychology (with Distinction) at the Institute of Work, Health & Organisations, University of Nottingham. He remained at the University to complete his Medical Research Council funded PhD and is currently undertaking the British Psychological Society Stage 2 Qualification in Health Psychology.

Dr Taylor teaches on the Patient Education for Behavioural Medicine course for third year B.Med.Sci students in the Psychiatry homebase. He is also an Examiner of the Communication Skills component of the OSCE for first and second year B.Med.Sci students.
Dr Taylor is currently employed within CLAHRC NDL investigating the effectiveness of parenting programmes in primary school settings (GAPP Project). Previously he was responsible for the local day-to-day management of a school-based randomised controlled trial which aimed to prevent depression in high risk adolescents (PROMISE Project).
Other past research includes exploring the role of the Theory Planned Behaviour in promoting uptake of NHS Stop Smoking Services and Nicotine Replacement Therapy in pregnancy, which he undertook as part of his PhD studies.
