Biography

After achieving his undergraduate degree, Dr Micky Kerr did some travelling before completing his Master's, which led into doing research assistant work at Cardiff. He then undertook his PhD, and worked as a lecturer in Occupational Psychology at Cardiff, taking on a human factors research role at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) laboratory before moving on to applied research at various universities, including Sheffield and Leeds business school. He then came to Nottingham, undertaking a variety of projects including supporting the evaluation of change management projects in the NHS and a review of the factors influencing the adoption of new information technologies in contemporary organisations.

  • Member of the KNOW network, an international forum for practitioners and researchers dedicated to knowledge management
  • Reviewer for the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Applied Ergonomics, European Journal of Work and Organisational Psychology, Journal of Advanced Nursing, and International Journal for Quality in Health Care

Dr Kerr co-ordinated the Work Systems & Human Factors module for the MSc in Occupational Psychology at the Institute of Work Psychology from 2001-2006, as well as guest lecturing on the course. He has also supervised students at both Master's and Doctoral levels.

Current Research

Dr Kerr is Senior Research Fellow on the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) project within the Stroke Rehabilitation theme at CLAHRC-NDL. Research responsibilities include mapping what ESD services exist and how they operate across the region, identifying the challenges, barriers and enablers to the implementation of ESD services, and collaborating with healthcare professionals on any implementation activities.
