Sarah Goldberg achieved her Psychology degree at the University of Nottingham, then trained as a charted accountant and worked for eight years on both internal and external audits. She then trained as a nurse at the University of Nottingham. Having worked as a nurse for 6 years, she is now undertaking a PhD.

Sarah Goldberg is currently involved in the Medical Crises in Older People (MCOP) programme grant funded by the NIHR. She is working on an evaluation of acute hospital care for older people with mental health problems such as dementia, delirium and depression.

She is also the lead applicant on a grant from the Research for Patient Benefits fund (RfPB), which evaluates the patient experience and quality of care on the medical and mental health unit compared to the other wards. This study uses the observational tool dementia care mapping.
