Forthcoming Events

  • Conference on the History of Leisure, Nottingham University Business School, 25th May 2012
For more more details please see the programme.
  • PG Conference - "Learning From Mistakes: The History of Failure and the Failure of History”, 14 June 2012
History can often focus on the successful, the popular and the unchallenged. It is important for historians to explore what has not worked in history and to learn which historical perspectives or approaches have been questioned. Stories of success, victory and progress are frequently found in writings on history; however, the study of the failures and 'losers' of the past is of equal importance, and indeed is intrinsic in understanding and contextualising those more famous successes of history. We are especially hoping to receive proposals on topics relating to "business failure".
For more information, please see a poster of this workshop PDF format and the programme PDF format.
  • Members of the CIBH will be presenting at the Association of Business Historians Conference, Birmingham July 2012.
