Ms Yang Wei has received the Chinese Student Award!
Yang was recently given the award by the Great Britain-China Educational Trust (GBCET). This award rewards Chinese students studying for a PhD at a UK university holding an excellent academic record.
The trust has been receiving increasing numbers of applications in recent years. The average ratio of successful candidates to unsuccessful is one in five. Ms Yang Wei is currently in the thesis writing period of her PhD degree at the Centre for Innovation in Carbon Capture and Storage (CICCS) at the University of Nottingham. Her research focuses on the impact of escaped carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide/sulphur dioxide mixtures on the chemical properties of soil through a variety of laboratory based techniques.
Yang has developed both a novel methodology and designed new equipment to carry out this research to which she has been very dedicated. While working on her PhD she has attended a number of conferences to expand her knowledge of the field. We are very proud to say that she has been awarded several winning poster papers and published several refereed journal papers and conference proceedings.
