Current Research

My research and teaching interests are broadly in 20th Century US foreign relations. In particular I am interested in Cold War and post-Cold War US foreign policy, intelligence history, foreign policy bureaucracy, and 20th Century international relations. I am currently pursuing a book contract to publish my first book entitled Disorder over Design: Strategy, Bureaucracy and the Development of US Political Warfare in Europe, 1945-1953 based on my PhD thesis completed in 2009. I am also developing a couple of articles based on my research of US political warfare strategy, bureaucracy and operations in the early Cold War period that I aim to publish in 2011/2012.

Publications to date-

"Strategic Disorder, the Office of Policy Coordination and the Inauguration of US Political Warfare against the Soviet Bloc, 1948-50" (publication tentatively scheduled for Vol 27 Issue 2 in Intelligence and National Security ) "The Origins of the CIA and the Non-Strategic Development of US Political Warfare, 1946-7" 49th Parallel, Volume 24, (Spring 2010) "The Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the Shortcomings of U.S. Strategy towards Eastern Europe" 49th Parallel (Spring 2005)
