Modern Languages Widening Participation Consortium

The School Cultures, Languages and Area Studies works hard to nurture and expand the teaching and learning of modern languages at all levels throughout the region, and to provide a useful network of contacts, events and resources.

This is coordinated through the :

Modern Languages Widening Participation Consortium  

 

The consortium meets 3 times a year and comprises representatives from the University including:

The School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies Widening Participation, Marketing and School Liaison, The International Office and the School of Education plus schools and colleges in the region, regional language organisations and other interested parties.  

Meeting dates for 2011 - 2012 are:

  • Thursday 13th October 2011
  • Thursday 9th February 2012
  • Thursday 10th May 2012

Widening Participation Consortium Events 

The Consortium organises a programme of events throughout the Year such as:

  • Modern Languages Taster Day
  • European Day of Languages event
  • Revision Sessions
  • Film Workshops
  • Ongoing initiatives, such as the Virtual Language Assistant project

and coordinates:

  • The Undergraduate Ambassador Scheme
  • Support for languages and events in schools
  • Shared resources
  • Routes into Languages and Links into Languages initiatives
