Emeritus Professor Malcolm Jones

Since his retirement in 1997, Malcolm Jones has published three books and over forty articles in his fields of interest. In the first period (from 1997 to 2005) his focus remained on Dostoevsky and the nineteenth century Russian novel, beginning with The Cambridge Companion to the Classic Russian Novel, co-edited with Robin Feuer Miller (1998), and culminating in the appearance of Dostoevsky and the Dynamics of Religious Experience (2005). Meanwhile Russian and Chinese translations of Dostoevsky after Bakhtin (1990) appeared, while a Chinese edition of The Cambridge Companion is planned for 2018. The second period (from 2009 to the present) saw his focus shift to the history of Slavonic Studies in the United Kingdom, a theme anticipated in an article of 2005 and continued in his book on the story of Slavonic Studies at Nottingham (2009) and in subsequent articles. A number of his articles from different periods have been re-published in English and in Russian.
