What did the year abroad do for you?

Hand on ya hip on Broadway

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Nottingham is running a competition for all graduates and current Year 4 students who spent a year abroad.  Please tell us in 180 words or less three or four ways in which your year abroad changed you (for the better).

We all know your language skills will have improved, but what else?

  • What challenges and opportunities did a year abroad give you?
  • What experiences (in work, study, or interpersonal skills, understanding different viewpoints, say), and how did you respond?
  • How will that help you as go out in to the world?
  • If you were on an Erasmus+ scheme, what difference did the Erasmus+ funding make to you?

Specific examples are great, though not essential.

Prize: Five x £25 prizes for five of the best submissions.

Rules: You must return to arts-marketing@nottingham.ac.uk  with your name, course and where you spent your year abroad. Please include a photo of yourself (or, if you prefer, another relevant photo).

By entering, you give the University of Nottingham permission to use your entry in our publicity, and to pass on your entry to other bodies (e.g. Universities UK) as a case study of the value of the Erasmus programme. You do not have to have been on an Erasmus scheme to enter.

You must be a final-year student at or an ex-student from the University of Nottingham.
