Fees and Funding
Each year we are able to offer a number of Studentships, fee-waivers and bursaries funded either by the Arts and Humanities Research Council or by the School. For more details of the awards and the application process, please follow the links below.

School Studentships

Students with a conditional or an unconditional offer on a PhD research programme or who are currently in the first year of their PhD within the Social Sciences and Arts are eligible to apply. More information is available on the Graduate School website.
New for 2012-13: Weston Scholarship for MA in Chinese/English Translation and Interpreting.
The University's International Office offers a range of partial funding schemes for postgraduate study.

Non UK Applicants are eligible to apply to certain other sources of funding. For further details please consult the funding database on the International Office page.
Highly qualified EU students are also eligible to apply for fees-only awards from the AHRC.
Residents of England and Wales who wish to study part-time may apply to the University for a Revis Grant which, if awarded, covers approximately a third of the cost of tuition fees.
The School of Modern Languages and Cultures would normally expect to offer part-time and self-funded postgraduates opportunities to undertake some paid work, e.g. teaching on undergraduate programmes or clerical/receptionist work within the School.
Students can also apply to a range of paid, 1-month Internships advertised each year through the Arts Graduate Centre.
