Translating Thought Research Group

The Translating Thought research group began meeting in 2007, with the aim of studying the difficulties of translating particular philosophical terms and concepts, and exploring the often overlooked role played by translation in the development of philosophical thought itself. Initially, the group focused primarily on the seminal publication edited by Barbara Cassin, Le Vocabulaire européen des philosophies (Seuil/Robert, 2004). This interest culminated in an international 2-day conference, Translating Thought/ Traduire la pensée, held at the University of Nottingham in March 2009.
