The School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies holds an annual Taster Day in November.

The aim of the event is to provide school age pupils an insight into studying languages at university and the range of courses and possibilities on offer.

Approximately 100 local Year 11 pupils studying languages are invited to the event held in the Trent Building on University Park where the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies is based.

Activities include:

  • Sample lectures
  • Taster language session
  • Careers presentation
  • Study Abroad information
  • Question and Answer sessions
  • Student life sessions
  • Lunch in a hall of residence

Very interesting and given a great insight into student life and studying languages!

It made me aware of the opportunity to study a year abroad with non-language subjects. I am now very keen to do this!

A very enjoyable, interesting day; not only am I now set on taking languages, but I am seriously considering going to the University of Nottingham : )

I really enjoyed learning a new language and the students were very nice and helpful.
