New appointments

The Department is pleased to announce the appointment of a new lecturer in Roman history, who will succeed  John Rich when he retires this summer.  Simon Malloch was an undergraduate at the University of Western Australia before undertaking his PhD at Cambridge on Tacitus' Annals XI. He has taught at Cambridge and University College Dublin, and currently holds a prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship in Munich.

New fixed-term appointments

Departmental success in the AHRC Research Leave scheme has led to two fixed-term appointments for the year 2009/10. The post of University Teacher in Classical Art (Autumn 2009) will be filled by Lucy Wadeson, who is currently finishing her doctorate at the University of Oxford. The post of University Teacher in Greek Literature (Autumn 2009-Spring 2010) will be filled by Toni Badnall, who was recently awarded her doctorate at the University of Nottingham. Both are already known to the Department's students as excellent teachers.
