Weston Scholarship
One Weston Scholarship is available to the School of Humanities for the academic year 2013/14. The award is equivalent to the University’s standard taught postgraduate HEU fee (to the equivalent of B funding).

Sir Francis Hill Postgraduate Scholarship 2013/14
One Sir Francis Hill Scholarship is available for the academic year 2013/14. The award offers a remission of full time HEU, research postgraduate fees and maintenance grant at Research Council rates (£3,924 and £13,726 for 2013/14).

Lillian Ruff Postgraduate Scholarship 2013
Dr Lillian M Ruff is a graduate of The University of Nottingham who has generously established this scholarship in her name.
There will be one recipient in 2013/14, being awarded a scholarship equivalent to the full cost of the UK/EU fee for a part-time taught MA course in the School of Humanities at The University of Nottingham. This scholarship is open to all students within the School of Humanities, but priority is given to Music applicants.

Main Eligibility Criteria:

be planning to enrol on a part-time taught postgraduate MA course in the School of Humanities at The University of Nottingham in 2013
-
meet the residency requirements for a 'home' or European Union student, and be liable for the relevant home/EU fee
-
be a self-funded student
-
have a low income which necessitates your continuing to work through your course (please see the application form for required evidence)
The following will also be taken into account:

caring responsibilities
-
disability or long-term ill health
-
priority will be given to students studying in the Department of Music
How to apply:
Students intending to start a relevant course should apply to this fund in the summer before their course begins, and no later than the deadline of 31 July 2013.

Henry Thomas Mitchell Postgraduate Vocal Scholarship 2013 (For Music applicants only)
This tuition fee scholarship, worth between £2500 and £5000, is to be awarded to a full-time postgraduate student specialising in vocal performance or researching an aspect of singing or the voice, and commencing his/her course in Sept 2013. The award cannot be deferred.
In the case of an award to a research student, the scholarship will be renewed for up to two years, subject to satisfactory progress. To be eligible to apply you must have a UK or EU fee status and have an offer of a place on the MA or MPhil/PhD programme.
Application to this fund should arrive no later than the deadline of 1 May 2013.

Pauline Roberts Scholarship (For History applicants only)
The Jean Rich Foundation of Canada offers Pauline Roberts Scholarship to United Kingdom Nationals to support one student on the MA in History. The Scholarship has a value of 6,000 Canadian dollars per annum, (approximately £2,500-£3,000 depending on the exchange rate) and is tenable for one year.
This will be matched by funds from the Department of History.

The Scholarship is intended to be awarded to an applicant of academic merit who has commitment to complete the programme of study and who is in great need of financial support. The Foundation has stipulated that the award is open only to United Kingdom nationals, and they would prefer to support those candidates who can demonstrate a social contribution to the community.
The Tranfield Scholarship (For History applicants only)
The Tranfield Scholarship kindly offers to support one full-time student on the MA in History. The Scholarship has a value of £4,680 for the 2013-2014 academic session and is intended to act as a fee waiver. The Department of History will make an additional award of approximately £880 to assist with typical additional costs incurred throughout postgraduate study.

The Scholarship is intended to be awarded to an applicant of academic merit who demonstrates commitment and ambition both in their studies and the furtherance of their chosen career.
The award recipient will have attended a state school within the United Kingdom between the ages of 11-18 and must also meet residency requirements for a ‘home’ student. (To be classed as a ‘Home’ student, a student must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the three year period prior to the start of the course).
The University of Nottingham will advise Mr Tranfield regarding the successful recipients of the award and may publicise the name of the recipient. The recipient is requested to inform the Department of History if he/she has any objections to this.
Successful candidates will be asked to submit a short report to summarise their experiences during the academic year, explain the progress they have made and what a difference the award has made to them.

If the offer of a scholarship is accepted initially, but declined subsequently, the award may be offered to another applicant.
Note that international candidates for Department fees bursaries will have to demonstrate their ability to cover the difference between Home/EU fees and International fees themselves.
