Postgraduate recruitment cycle
At postgraduate level there is more flexibility in the admissions cycle and many students, particularly those interested in undertaking a PhD, can apply at any time during the year.
The dates below outline the admissions cycle for typical students (the marketing activities listed do not include those carried out by the International Office):
Registration for the current year.
Schools and the Enquiry Centre begin to receive enquiries for study in the following year.
Prospective students start searching for funding opportunities.
University representatives attend postgraduate recruitment fairs across England.
Applications from international students tend to start in January as international funding deadlines approach.
Applications are received in April for disciplines with funding deadlines.
The Postgraduate Student Recruitment Marketing Team start work on conversion activities.
Applications continue and firm decisions of acceptance or rejection are made.
Marketing activity focuses on converting offer holders to firm accepters. University representatives attend postgraduate recruitment fairs through to June and the Postgraduate Prospectus is published in August for next round of applicants.
