Research support available to third sector organisations

Does your organisation need help researching an issue?

Finding the time and in-house expertise to carry out research can be a challenge for many third sector organisations. The University currently has a number of ways of supporting voluntary and community organisations and social enterprises in meeting their research needs. This may involve early career researchers or postgraduate/ undergraduate students working with you to examine an issue and carrying out a piece of research that could help your organisation develop or grow.  Charges for this work range from £3 per hour (+VAT) to no charge depending on which students are involved and the type of project.

Examples of completed projects or projects underway include: researching and recommending new systems for a community transport scheme, researching demand for a new day care provision for the elderly, researching and implementing a new data collection and storage system for a community allotment, researching the value and impact of a credit union and assessing the impact of volunteering on people with a learning disability.

Support is available for defining research issues from the University’s Community Partnerships Team who can be contacted via Sharon Clancy 0115 8466442 email sharon.clancy@nottingham.ac.uk A member of the team would be happy to discuss your research requirements and other ways of engaging with the University.
