The Byron Centre for the Study of Literature and Social Change provides a range of outreach activities and offers freely accessible online teaching, learning and research resources. The Centre acts as a forum for research on Byron and other writers from the Romantic period.
The Centre for the Study of the Viking Age has an active outreach programme and is keen to communicate its work to schools and the general public alike. It is engaged in research into all aspects of the Viking Age.
Staff and students in the School of English are engaged in a wide range of activities with local primary and secondary schools and are committed to sharing its research and teaching in English language, literature, drama and creative writing.
Self-contained on-line resources on particular historical themes are available for teachers of Key Stage 3 and GCSE students from the Manuscripts and Special Collections website. The lesson / activity plans are based around studying full-size digital images of original documents. Current themes are public health and housing and Laxton open field system.
