Last week Dr Andy Crabtree and Dr Alan Chamberlain from the School of Computer Science were awarded an Honorable Mention for their paper at the 17th ACM Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW 2014) - Making IT "Pay a Bit Better”- Design Challenges for Micro Rural Enterprise

Dr Chamberlain said, “It’s fantastic to be acknowledged at an international level for the research that Dr Crabtree and myself have been carrying out in rural areas. It’s important to see the real world possibilities that technology can have in regard to the digital economy in the UK and how the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham are playing a key part within this field of research at this level”. Dr Chamberlain presented the paper in the ICT4D track of the conference.

We would like to acknowledge the RCUK grant Scaling the Rural Enterprise EP/J000604/2

Note: “CSCW is the premier venue for presenting research in the design and use of technologies that affect groups, organizations, communities, and networks. Bringing together top researchers and practitioners from academia and industry in the area of social computing, CSCW encompasses both the technical and social challenges encountered when supporting collaboration.”
