The School of Computer Science has established the following spin out companies and services:
Aptia Solutions creates software solutions for a wide variety of applications and industries. The software can be used to place shapes on a given material that are subsequently cut out. The underpinning algorithms, developed at The University of Nottingham and now incorporated into Aptia’s products, are able to produce better layouts than are currently possible — with a major cost-saving in terms of materials and reduction of waste. These approaches are suitable for a variety of materials including glass, sheet metal, precious metal, fabric, and many others.
EventMAP originated as a spin out company from the University of Nottingham and Queen's University and specialises in Strategic Resource Planning. The Company provides business analysis, methodology and software products to allow for more effective usage of organisational resource.
Ethnographic Services offers a range of consultancy, training, research and design services based upon a detailed understanding of how people organize their activities in the world. The services have evolved out of a long-standing and successful engagement in ethnographic work in both industry and academia. The services offered include: tailored courses in ethnographic practice; training and support for specific organisations; contracted consultancy work; collaborative research with external partners; visiting lectures from established professionals; and specific solutions designed to meet your particular business needs.
The School of Computer Science is keen to discuss potential partnerships with a view to commercial collaborations or licensing opportunities.
