CONCEPT was launched in 2010 to encourage and promote the School’s research in normative political theory, which explores questions about how political arrangements ought to be. So for example how a society’s main institutions ought to be organised, what kinds of values and principles should be adopted, or how political choices should be made.
CONCEPT serves to both facilitate and showcase normative the work in political theory being done at Nottingham, and to connect Nottingham to the wider political theory community. To this end our main events are three-day conferences with postgraduate workshops based around a particular theme or the work of a leading theorist.
The Centre also holds workshops and other events, hosts associate fellows from other institutions and can provide some assistance to PG students wishing to give papers at conferences.
