Ann Mills

Dr. Ann Mills C.Psychol, AFBPsS, F.ERG
Professional Head of Human Factors, RSSB (Rail Safety and Standards Board)

Dr. Ann Mills has an MSc and PhD in Applied Psychology from Cranfield University. Prior to joining RSSB Ann worked as a senior researcher at Cranfield University for six years in the area of aviation safety. Ann leads the Human Factors Team at RSSB having built up the team to a total of 14 specialists. HF is fully integrated into all of RSSB's activities. The team ensure the integration of human factors knowledge and approaches into standards, undertake research on behalf of the industry, support the work of cross industry groups (as well as the development and introduction of future train management systems such as ERTMS) and they are leading analysis of incident data to better identify and address human error in incidents. A recent key activity has been the development of Non-Technical Skills training which the team is currently supporting the industry to roll out within their companies.
