ARRIVAL INFORMATION

General guidance on reaching Nottingham and the University from ports of arrival in the UK can be found here.

For delegates lodging in Ancaster Hall:

We are assuming you will arrive at East Midlands Airport, Nottingham Train Station, Beeston Train Station, Nottingham Victoria Coach Station, or Broadmarsh Bus Station. From there, we recommend you take a taxi direct to Ancaster Hall at the University of Nottingham, University Park Campus (cost of ride from Nottingham city centre approx. £10, or from East Midlands Airport approx. £35). You can download a campus map and Ancaster Hall is shown in purple, near the West Entrance. It is important that the taxi driver is absolutely clear that you want University Park Campus, as there are two Universities and 5 campuses in Nottingham (3 University of Nottingham and 2 Nottingham Trent University). Most Nottingham taxi drivers are familiar with the locations of the Halls of Residence on campus.

For delegates preferring to use public transport, from Nottingham city centre, take one of the public bus services that stop at or near the university (cost approx. £2). From East Midlands Airport you can take the Skylink bus service (every 20 minutes 24/7) to the University or to Nottingham city centre (cost £5).

Check-in is from 15:00 on your day of arrival, but the Ancaster Hall reception is open before this. If you arrive for the first time at midnight or afterwards, the Hall reception will be closed and the main door locked. The 24-hour security telephone number will, however, be clearly displayed and a member of the University Security team will arrive to let you into the Hall, where you will find your room key waiting for you at reception.

Registration for the conference will take place in the Engineerin6566webg and Sciences Learning Centre (ESLC), building 54 on the downloadable map. You can walk there (roughly 15 minutes; 1 mile or 1.5 km). For delegates with restricted mobility, please contact the organizers to arrange transportation form Ancaster Hall to the ESLC. Registration is open from 16:00 to 20:00 on Sunday 12th July. If you arrive after 20:00, you may register from 08:30 on the 13th July in the ESLC.

If you plan to hire a car and drive to the University, please let us know in advance so we can organise a parking pass for you. Without this you will certainly receive a parking fine. You are only allowed to park the car at Ancaster Hall and you will need to walk from there.

For delegates staying in hotels in Nottingham:

To get to the registration, starting from your hotel you will need to take a bus or taxi to the University of Nottingham, University Park Campus. We suggest you ask the taxi driver to take you to the Engineering tower building, building no. 37 on the downloadable map, which is an easily seen land mark and close to the Engineering and Sciences Learning Centre, building no. 54. If you are taking a bus from the city centre, use any one which stops at the Queens Medical Centre (QMC) NHS Trust and University Teaching Hospital. From there it is just a short (5 minute) walk onto University Park campus and follow the map to the ESLC.
