Pefectionism and Procrastination

These two linked workshops encourage participants to explore their own tendencies to procrastinate and how this is often connected to perfectionism.  We will focus on how having standards that are too high can interfere with performance and generate low mood and anxiety.  Perfectionistic behaviour and attitudes are about impossibly high standards. When we are in a perfectionistic frame of mind we usually end up frustrated or disappointed with ourselves, others or the world. Perfectionism is not about high standards but about impossible standards.

This workshop offers the opportunity to explore:

  • where you direct your perfectionistic beliefs
  • what effect this is having on your life
  •  how procrastination can be a symptom of other difficulties and a way to avoid feelings that we find difficult

One of the most helpful things about a workshop can be talking and listening to others who have very similar thoughts, feelings and struggles. This often helps workshop participants to:

  • recognise their own difficulties
  • think of ways forward

We encourage you to understand more about your own thoughts and feelings through discussion and written exercises. It will involve a mix of input from the facilitator(s) and individual and group exercises and feedback.

You need to attend both workshops.
