The Fourth Annual Conference of the Society will bring together scholars from diverse disciplines to discuss childhood and education in the past. We call for a majority of papers on recent research on any aspect of childhood in the past as well as on the specific topic of the education of children in the past.

Papers on girls’ education, immigrants’ education, the education of slave children and education in medieval times are particularly welcome. A session will be devoted to Spartan and ancient Greek education.

The official language of the Conference is English.

Prof. Steve Hodkinson to be honored with the title of Honorary Citizen of Sparti on the first day of the conference.The Conference will be complemented by book displays and art exhibitions.

The Municipality of Sparti will host a reception following the official opening of the Conference on Friday 17 September and the Conference Dinner on Saturday 18 September 2010.
