Closely associated with the Centre's ADoM Project, DELIA is designed to examine the variety of admissions practice which uses information additional to that available through UCAS Apply.
We live in a world where HEIs are making ever-increasing use of pre-admissions tests to support selection of applicants who are both suited to and likely to complete their chosen courses. At the same time, interest in ePortfolio-based admissions and the use of Course Entry Profiles is drawing attention to their potential use in personalised admissions. Drawing on the baseline information about UK e-Admissions practice in HEIs gathered by the ADoM Project and the experience of the case study approach being taken by the related PortisHEad Project at the University of Wolverhampton, DELIA will develop scenarios for future practice in admissions and then specify and prototype a partcular area of admissions involving use of richer applicant data than that currently available through the UCAS process.
We will focus on refining course entry profiles with a view to linking them to structured personal statements capable of linking to ePortfolio evidence. A second focus will be on prototyping the technology to support a range of admissions staff in handling these new kinds of data, in order to facilitiate and streamline the HE admissions process.
